Cool New Toy

Thank you, Grandma & Grandpa Ponka, for my new Kick & Play. It's so much fun!
Love, Ryan

First Time Swimming

While my parents were visiting last week, we went to the park for a picnic and a swim. Once Ryan got used to the cool temperature of the water, he was pretty content to sit in the kiddy pool with us.

First Bottle

Yesterday, Ryan turned 4 months! Where has the time gone?

Since I got a part-time job, I needed to start pumping so Ryan can continue with breast milk while I'm gone. I start next week, so we thought we'd start practicing with the bottle right away because we'd heard that getting used to a bottle may be tricky for him. Well, apparently, he'll take food any way it is presented. He took to the bottle instantly and scarfed it down. No problems. It was an extra special moment because now Burke can share in the experience of feeding our baby. How cute are these boys?

In other news, I finally legally changed my name to Rebecca Marie Ponka Lokey.

Rolling Over

He keeps getting bigger and stronger! This morning during "daddy time", Burke got a cute video of Ryan practicing his new skill - rolling over.

Picnic in the Park

In efforts to find inexpensive things to do locally, we discovered Rockland Lake State Park. Yesterday, we packed a picnic and headed off for a little trip to the park. We saw deer up close. That was cool. There were also ducks, bunnies, turkeys, and a groundhog. They have a swimming pool. We'd like to take Ryan swimmig next week. Here are a couple pictures.

Family Picture.

Big boy lookin' cute.

Ryan is more consistently sucking his fingers and/or thumb. He does most of his finger sucking when he's in his stroller. Here he is sucking his two fingers just like Uncle Joey used to do.

Tech Savvy Already!

Yesterday Ryan was on my lap at the computer and started typing on the keyboard. I knew he would be into technology someday, but I had no idea it would happen so soon. He "typed" an email to his grandparents. They were very impressed!

Footprint

Grandpa Lokey wanted to see the footprint. Luckily, Burke took a picture of it. Here's Ryan's footprint at 16 weeks 2 days.

Blue Footprint

Check out his blue left foot in this picture. Ryan's baby book has a space for a footprint. Lenox Hill Hospital did not supply us with footprints, so we decided to make our own. I found an ink pad in my box of school stuff today. Don't worry, it's non-toxic and washable - but not easily washable. We scrubbed his little footy and gave him a bath and his foot still has a slight blue tint.

Jam Session

Here is Burke playing guitar for baby. Ryan is way more alert and interactive than he was in the guitar blog entry from May 10. We can't believe how quickly he's changing!

This is Burke singing a song by The Shins. Listen to Ryan "sing" along. Also, see how he listens politely during the instrumental part.

This is Burke playing Metallica, which Ryan clearly enjoys. Look how he studies Burke's fingers when he does that slide on the guitar.

Escape Artist

Ever since he was a newborn, Ryan's been able to escape our attempts at swaddling. Then we found this product that makes swaddling easier and tighter, without having to use a blanket. Apparently, he's figured this one out too. This is what I saw when I went to get him up this morning. All 4 limbs are supposed to be swaddled. He's managed to get 3 limbs free! I have no idea how he gets his legs out.
