January was mostly dedicated to grieving, and processing the loss of our beloved GGPa. It's so surreal, that at times of loss and big change, the world just keeps going, but that it does, and in our regular life, we had so much snow and extreme cold, which led to many "Snow Days" off from school. Some other January highlights...
Burke recently got glasses for reading.
Evan made it to the top 10 spellers, and competed to narrow it down to 4. The top 4 represented the school at a regional spelling bee. He didn't make it, but I was so impressed with his courage and composure.
On one of our dangerously cold days, we had to go outside, even if only for a few minutes, because we were going a bit stir crazy. We took a couple sledding passes down a local hill to get some energy out.
Another snow day activity that the whole family enjoyed. Puzzle of children's book covers in honor of GGPa. Thanks for the puzzle, Nana!

February seemed to fly by (while January seemed to drag on and on). The end of trimester kept me very busy, while we also planned for a quick trip to Ft. Myers for GGPa's memorial service. Here are some photo highlights from February.

We stopped by Sun Harvest Citrus for ice cream, fresh juice/fruit, and other goodies.
Lolo found an extremely off-the-beaten-path restuarant for breakfast. It was such a fun, quirky, pleasant surprise. I want to go back for their desserts.
Marge, her sister Marilyn, and daughter Linda, played Farkle with Ryan, Evan, and me. It was such a pleasure to meet Marilyn, since Marge frequently speaks of her. It's special that she, and much of the Killian family, could come be with Marge during this difficult time.

We had a nice dinner with family before heading back to Michigan.

GGPa's service was beautiful and heartfelt. Lolo's tribute was so well-done.

In Lolo's tribute, he said we all have different words that come to mind when we think of GGPa, his dad. He said his word was presence. GGPa's excellent example of kindness, integrity, and hard-work will not be forgotten. Though he's physically gone, he's very much present, and will continue to be, both directly and indirectly, as time inevitably marches on. 💕
