Mom & Dad's Night Out

Burke convinced me to go to this fundraiser for the music department in Nyack. It was a dinner/dance and it was close to home, so I reluctantly agreed. (Reluctant, mainly because I don't have much to wear that fits me besides sweats and about 3 shirts.) We were going to take Evan so our babysitter (who is 15) wouldn't have to deal with him. At the last minute, she cancelled because she was sick and a friend of mine from the library (who is an adult) agreed to come over instead. She encouraged us to leave Evan, AND WE DID! And so it was that Burke and I went out alone for the first time in at least 8 weeks.

We had Evan all ready to go. These are a couple pictures we took before we decided not to take him. Super cute with the big eyes and the hat!

Big Smiles!

This month Evan started smiling for us, which we think is adorable. Also in this video, you can see how he's starting to gain control of his arms to bat at objects. I know it still looks like flailing, but from what I read, there are the beginnings of control in the flailing.

First Visit to the Barber Shop

Well, we finally did it. We took him to a barber shop. Ryan needed his hair evened out after Burke and I took our own scissors to it for the last 6 months.

I was trying to figure out where to take him for this hair cut. Burke got his own hair cut at this particular place last weekend and they said they cut kids' hair. Burke really liked this guy/place. So we thought we'd try it out.

It's in town, so we just walked there. Cute little walker.

I stopped at the bank while Burke and Ryan went ahead. I was only moments behind them. When I got there Ryan and Burke were already both in the chair, Ryan's hair was wet down, and he had a sad, traumatized look on his little face. That sure happened quickly. The sucker made things a lot more tolerable for him though, as you can see.

A shot in the mirror. The barber was so nice. He had 4 boys of his own, so knew just how to handle Ryan.

We stopped at Starbucks for a little snack afterward. Doesn't he look handsome and clean cut now? What a big boy!

Bath Time

Little Evan is growing up! He looks so big - 7 weeks old. You never know if he's going to scream through a bath or enjoy it. This particular one was peaceful.

Baby Bench Press

This is how Burke gets his exercise...

In other news, my mom left on Friday. Now we're really on our own. Yikes! We miss her.

Evan has this weird congestion thing. It really acts up when he's lying on his back. It's a little worrisome to me. Otherwise, he's an awesome baby. Pretty laid back at this point. Learning to smile and make cute baby talking noises. Getting big! He's almost 7 weeks.

Ryan continues to amuse us. When he's not objecting to something ("no, no, no" waving arms adamantly), he's singing songs which is absolutely adorable.

A Couple Cute Play Mat Shots

Aww...

Evan's actually having a sleeping issue. He seems to get congested only at night, brought on by lying on his back. Not sure what the deal is. Poor little one.

Cute brothers! It sort of looks like Evan is smiling in this picture, but I don't think he is.

Sharing a Crib

Evan was enjoying his mobile this evening. All of a sudden, Burke says, "Come look!" And there was Ryan sitting in Evan's crib with him. Ryan just thought this was a hilarious situation, as you can see in the video. Cute brothers!

Random Pictures

Ryan gets a little stir crazy in the winter. We wanted to give him a chance to get out of the house. So Burke bundled him up and they walked Happy. How cute is he with the hat and scarf?

Strong neck work for 6 week old Evan!

Riding the car at Babies R Us. However, we don't think we can put money in it to make it move yet. That will freak him out. So he just sits in the stationary car, for now.

Visiting with Family

First Burke's parents were here in November & early December. Shortly after, my parents arrived. Then Steve, Joey & Christine were here for a week around Christmas & New Years. Finally, Keith visited for the first few days in January. We've been lucky to be surrounded by our family as we welcome Evan.

Notice the sweater Ryan's wearing.

Cute Boys

Ryan loves to open and close our drawers. He found this sweater of mine that sort of resembles his "blankie." At first he called it "mama's blankie." Now he knows it's a sweater and likes to wear it around. He wore it for 2 evenings. He tried to get me to put it on him the third day, but I was able to distract him.

Here's a cute pic of Evan. He's getting bigger and cuter every day. We are getting to know his personality and his cues. Thanks for the cute pjs, Joey & Christine! They look super cute on him.
