First Day of Spring

February was very snowy. When pushed, the boys would go out and mess around in the snow. They usually ended up having some adventure and enjoying themselves. We were all relieved to watch it melt, as temperatures slowly warmed.

On February 20, Burke and I got our first Covid vaccine shot. Just yesterday, we got the second. We experienced minimal side effects, and are thankful for that, as well as the potential safety the vaccine offers.

My dear college friend's husband and daughter from California were doing a midwest tour, looking at colleges and visiting family. We hosted them for 2 nights, a pit stop to visit Hope College. Such a treat to see them!

Evan participated in the virtual Brown School Variety Show. He had a vision for what song he wanted to sing, and it quickly became a memorable, fun family project. I helped execute the vision (director). Burke changed the key of the song so it'd in a more comfortable range, and arranged it to something Evan could play/sing to (music director), he also helped with filming (cinematography). Ryan played bongo in the background, filmed the green screen part, and edited the video (musician, cinematography, video editing). Evan was "the talent."

I was watching them sing, record, and play.

We're so proud of our big little guys.

The whole school watched the entire virtual Variety Show. Here is Evan on the big screen in our classroom.
We also produced a 5th Grade Class Dance. I didn't want to post it for privacy reasons, since there are so many classmates in it. But it also turned out so great! Variety Show was a hit, even in pandemic times.

Ryan got to perform! The 7th grade orchestra performed and recorded their Festival pieces in front of a live studio (20% capacity, masked) audience. He even played drums for one piece. He is so talented, and they did so well, yet the first thing he says afterward is, "I messed up 3 times." He has high expectations.

[This is the first time the boys sat inside a place to ingest something in over a year, second time for me and Burke.]

Evan at school!
I am so thankful to be his teacher. In a few short weeks, he'll be middle school bound.

Pajama Day

Today is March 20!
The first day of spring, season of hope.
Thankful for rising temps, and blue skies.
