Ryan's Last Day of Kindergarten

Although it happened 24 days ago, it's still important to document Ryan's LAST DAY of K! This year sure did fly. Seems like just yesterday I was fretting about the full-day situation and navigating the newness of the situation. And just like that, it's over and we have a first grader!

He passed with flying colors!
Doing a little dance.

They do this cool thing at the end of the last day where the principal announces all the 5th graders names. The 5th graders exit the school, as their name is called, and run a victory lap, slapping hands with the younger students who are lining the track. Evan was asking me what was happening. I had trouble explaining it without getting choked up. I know that in the blink of an eye, Ryan, then Evan, will be running that 5th grade victory lap. I am excited to watch them learn and grow. But I vividly remember babyhood, and sometimes miss those days. This whole growing up thing is for the birds sometimes. Bittersweet.

This is Isaac and his sister Annika. Their mom, Sara, and I became mom-friends. We'd hang around after the kids started school and let our little ones play on the playground while we chatted. Isaac and Ryan were in the same class. Evan and Annika became buddies too.

Add Jackson... His mom, Shannon, also became a mom-friend. Jackson and Ryan are on the same baseball team. Isaac played on the league too, but he was placed on a different team. We had to get our boys together for a picture in their empty-shut-down-for-summer classroom.

Ryan & Mrs. Wiesemes
She was a great fit for Ryan. She welcomed me helping out with her class. I got to read, write, sing, dance and play with the kiddos, which was good for my soul for many reasons. She was also very generous and kind to Evan. She helped our transition into Brown School smooth and positive. We'll all miss being a part of her class. But we look onward, with hope, toward an awesome first grade experience too!

Spring

We've been enjoying the gradual warming weather this spring. The boys are consistently wearing shorts now, with only occasional sweatshirts in the morning. We've had some rain and thunderstorms, which the garden and flowers like, but Ryan and Evan do not. We are happy to begin the season of ice cream, beaches, and warm sunshine.

Ryan's last day of kindergarten is tomorrow. In about two short weeks, it'll will officially be summer! And we have a busy summer planned. Let the fun begin!
