Four Generations

Burke's parents are in town for a long weekend. We kicked off the visit with a broken down car and a new alternator. So that was fun. But things looked up from there. Grandpa and Marge made the long trip on the Metro North to visit our new place in Nyack. This was a rare opportunity to have the four generations of Lokey men all together in one place. This is a very special photo.

Then we took a couple of the the three of us.

The Typewriter by Leroy Anderson

When I teach music, I always do this with my students. It's called The Typewriter. You can teach so many music concepts with this and it's favorite with both kids and teachers. I also really enjoy it. After 10 years of using this, I still enjoy it! So, of course, it was only a matter of time before Ryan learns it too. I highly recommend this entire CD to parents and teachers.

Alone time with Daddy

This is what happens when Mom goes to work and leaves Ryan alone with Daddy!

Baby in the Bumbo

I wanted one of these chairs for Ryan, but they are expensive. He's almost at the weight max so I felt it wasn't worth the price - unless the price is FREE! Someone was donating this Bumbo to a second hand shop and just left it outside its doors. So I snatched it. I NEVER take stuff off the street, so this is new for me. I scrubbed it and sprayed it with Lysol. We tried it out this morning and his chubby legs barely fit. So glad I didn't spend the money!

My Vantage Point

Now that the weather is cooling off a bit, I like to "wear" Ryan in his Ergo Carrier. Usually, he just looks around from side to side, but lately, I catch him looking up at me. This is what I see when I look down at him. Too cute.

Eating Paper

He loves to put everything in his mouth, of course. And paper is perfect because it gets soggy and is flexible. This is the third paper product he's gotten a hold of and destroyed. Yesterday was the best when I had to remove little paper wads from his mouth. Here are before and after pictures.

P.S. Thanks Aunt Mary for the birthday card.

Our Little Musician

Like father like son!

We have been sitting at the piano with Ryan while we try to play for a while now. Within the last couple days he's started pushing the keys down and making his own music.

Burke often plays guitar for Ryan. The baby was beginning to get bored with this particular jam session, so Burke gave him a baby size guitar to play with (ukulele). This diversion extended the jam session a little longer. Ryan seems to like the guitar. He touches the pegs and strums the strings.

We think he's going to play the drums, piano, and guitar. Watch Ryan not even be interested in studying music. Keep your fingers crossed.

Becky's Birthday

One of the things about living in the suburbs is that it's easier to bbq. On my birthday, last weekend, Burke made a nice bbq dinner and Sarah & Nathan were nice enough to drive to Nyack from Brooklyn to help celebrate.

Sarah & Nathan are indirectly responsible for Ryan's existence as they introduced me to Burke. Thanks for that! As you can see, they are expecting a baby boy in late October.

(This is a rare picture of Nathan not making a strange face.)
